Joint initiatives by the NGO “UAPERIO” for International Healthy Gums Day
On May 12, International Healthy Gums Day, the Ukrainian Association of Periodontology and Osseointegration joined a number of important professional, educational, and social initiatives aimed at promoting oral health, preventing gum disease, and supporting future professionals in the dental field.
Committee hearings in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine held committee hearings on the topic:
“The system of rehabilitation in the field of healthcare and social rehabilitation for male and female veterans: current issues and ways to address them.”
During the hearings, UAPeriO Board Member, MD, Professor Oksana Kopchak, Head of the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry, Periodontology, and Pediatric Therapeutic Dentistry at Kyiv Medical University, presented a report on behalf of civil society organizations.
In her report, she outlined the dental community’s recommendations for improving the provision of dental care to veterans, particularly in the field of periodontology.
Educational Initiatives at the International University

The Faculty of Dentistry at the International University held an important and informative event—“Gum Health Day”—initiated by Dr. Yulia Gennadievna Chumakova, MD, PhD.
During the event, students had the opportunity to learn more about modern approaches to the prevention and treatment of periodontal diseases, the importance of professional oral hygiene, and maintaining gum health.
Practical training and working with children

As part of their clinical practicum in the course “Prevention of Dental Diseases,” third-year students from the Kyiv Medical University visited Kindergarten No. 52.
Under the guidance of instructors Volodiy S.V. and Mityanska O.G., the future doctors organized interactive sessions, games, and demonstrations of proper dental and gum care for the children, and also spoke about the importance of healthy eating habits.
Lectures and hands-on workshops

On May 12, a lecture and hands-on workshop were held on proper oral hygiene at home and the prevention of gum disease.
The event was led by Natalia Kogut and Olga Krutofist, president of the IFO Dental Students’ Association. It is especially rewarding to see how young professionals are developing, learning, and already sharing their knowledge with others.
Such initiatives are extremely important for shaping the professional skills of future dentists, developing clinical thinking, and promoting a culture of dental health among young people.
Together, we are shaping the future of dentistry in Ukraine!
